League Meetings: Meetings are held on the third Sunday of each month at 2:00 PM at the Johnson City Senior Center, 609 East Myrtle Street. Each meeting will feature a guest speaker and visitors are always welcomed. The following programs are already scheduled: February 17 - John from Johnson City Framing March 16 - Jim Stagner, wetercolor demonstration April 20 - open May 18 - open June 15 - Johnny Lynch, Tanasee update July 20 - Summer picnic August 17 - Ginny Wall, watercolor loose and free September 21 - open October 19 - Danielle Bousonne - oil underpainting demo November 16 - Barbara Jernigan - Christmas card workshop December 21 - Christmas party Current and future exhibits: Roving Gallery: Twenty WVAL artists comprise the "Roving Gallery", a part of our Art League for the past 6 years. Member artists supply artwork for local businesses changing artwork bi-monthly. A large display is now in place at Roan Mountain Conferance Center in Roan Mnt. State Park. It is open to the public during normal business hours. Another display of over 30 pieces is at Angelo's Main Street Cafe in Mountain City, TN. WVAL Art Shows scheduled for 2008: SUMMER SHOW AT SYCAMORE SHOALS in Elizabethton will include a judged show and an all member show. This, our sixth judged show, will begin with an Awards Reception Sunday, June 29 and will remain in place until July 25. NEWELL-HENDERSHOT WATERCOLOR MEDIA EXHIBITION is scheduled at Sycamore Shoals. This fourth annual watermedia show will begin with an Art Fair including demos and an awards reception on Saturday, August 2. CHRISTMAS SHOW AT SYCAMORE SHOALS is scheduled for the month of December. This show will be combined with a Christmas Tree Exhibition and will include a reception on November 30. |
